Tired of seeing the same picture whenever someone calls you? Are your social site profile picture or  avatar a little dull? How about trying to spice it up a little by turning your contacts or even yourself cartoony ? You can even experiment with your favorite actor, artist or idol’s faces, or just let your creativity run wild.

iMadeFace is an app where you can create a cartoonized / comic version of yourself or of anyone that you want to. You can use the faces you created for contacts, avatars, and more.

   

Getting Started

To start, download the iMadeFace app .
Open the app. Pick a gender: boy or girl? You will get a quick single-page tutorial on how to use the app.

On the top bar, you can find the face parts. From left to right – face shape, hairstyle, eyebrows style, eyes shape, nose shape, mouth/lips, facial hair (for boy), ears shape and accessory. There are also options for text input and you can change the background too.

You are given around 15 to 30 choices in facial part. Swipe through the choices to find the perfect part. Not only that, in some of the parts you were given the option to change the part colors.

Changing the eyes part might be on of the most fun part of this app. You can set the eyes from a beautiful one to a totally comical one.

And if you set the gender as boy, you’ll get an extra face part which is the facial hair, complete with color change!

As for accessory, for now there’s only the shades/glasses accessory available.

When you’re done and satisfied with your creation, you can choose to save it in the app gallery, or save it in your iPhone camera roll. You can share it to Twitter and Facebook as well.

Thanks to the release of the iPhone 5 back in September, Apple has captured a 53 percent of the smartphone market in the United States – the very first time it has passed the 50 percent barrier. The number crunching was carried out by Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, and its most recent sales data figures show the Cupertino company’s market share has increased dramatically on the 37 percent recorded at the same period of last year, and takes into consideration the 12-week period ending on November 25th.

Android, comparatively, is sat at 42 percent, although there are a variety of factors as to why Apple is painted in such a favorable light. The strong earlier sales of the flagship Android smartphone – the Samsung Galaxy S III – would not have been taken into account here, and although the stats are impressive, the fact that the iPhone 4S released some three weeks later in the year than its 2012 successor is a key factor in why the leap is so dramatic.

With an exciting range of devices including the Nokia Lumia 920 on offer with Windows Phone 8, its success will depend on how many apps it can generate over the next twelve months. WP8 itself is arguably the slickest, most innovative platform on the market, and with BlackBerry 10 looking an encouraging re-make of the struggling ecosystem, Kantar’s stats could take a very different shape this time next year.

Facebook has released a poke app for the iPhone, which the company describes as a "fun and easy" way to "say hello to friends wherever you are."

Of all the features Facebook possesses, one of the longest-serving is the poke feature, and what better way Facebook to accentuate its relevance than offer it its very own app. Of course, a poke app on its own sounds rather boring, and so Mark Zuckerberg and his team of developers have thrown in a bunch of other features to accompany the poking experience.

Among them, is the ability to send a message, photo, or video to anybody on your approved list of Facebook friends. It is, for all intents and purposes, a less full-on version of the Messenger app, and if you find instant messaging to be a bit of a time-hog, the Poke app should slot into your life quite fittingly.
The main difference between the Poke app and other such instant content-sharing apps, is that each message expires after a set amount of time – between 1, 3, 5 and 10 seconds. Once that set amount of time has passed, the message disappears from the app – never to be seen again.
In order to see message sent from a friend, all you need to do is press and hold said message, and it will expire. Facebook has also added a handy reporting feature, in which users can flag content they find offensive.

Facebook has dedicated a vast amount of time and resources into updating and improving its range of mobile apps, and it has to be said that, this year, it looks as though they’ve cracked it. Both the iPhone and Android apps run smoother than warm butter, and with several accompanying app focused on messaging, image sharing, and now poking, the Facebook experience on a mobile device is almost as feature-rich as on the desktop version.

Google And Motorola Reportedly Designing A Superphone Called “X Phone” To Compete With The iPhone 5

Remember when Google blindsided most of the mobile industry with their $12.5 billion acquisition of Motorola Mobility? Well, it seems like they are actually in the process of putting their extremely expensive purchase to good use, with The Wall Street Journal reporting that they are working hard on an advanced smartphone that is referred to internally as the “X Phone”.

The powerful and advanced device is rumored to be going to hit the market during 2013 and signals the first actual Google and Motorola collaboration since the struggling handset manufacturer was purchased by the high-flying search engine. Although no specification leaks have been picked up as yet, it is being said that the purpose of creating this powerful smartphone is to allow Google and Motorola to effectively compete with Apple and Samsung who are the two front-runners in the smartphone industry by far.

Although the mysterious X Phone will be produced by the hardware team at Motorola Mobility, the company will still be honoring their existing commitments to other partners such as Verizon Wireless in the United States. Also, in addition to the speculated smartphone, the potential exists for Google and Motorola to push forward their working relationship with the production of an Android powered tablet, the production of which would more than likely be driven by the successes of their first joint venture.
Although Google hasn’t responded to any requests for comments on the situation, it is a well-known fact that Motorola need successes of some nature to get them back to where they feel they belong in the smartphone world. Recent failings have included not being able to produce a device with advanced features that manages to offer a usable battery life to consumers, something that Motorola will be extremely keen to put behind them.

Before we can actually pass any judgment on the device, and whether or not we want it in our lives, we would of course have to see the design that the two teams have come up with and the technical specifications that reportedly make it an extremely powerful device. It would be extremely welcome to see a company step forward who can actually push out a smartphone that stands a real chance of competing with Apple and Samsung.

Microsoft has released a brand-new title to iOS, and although it is by no means the Redmond company’s first game for the Apple platform, it is the first time an iOS title has packed Xbox LIVE Achievements. So not only can you have fun with yet another brain-teasing puzzler, but you can also top up your Gamerscore in the process. It’s called Wordament, and is absolutely free to download over at the App Store. Details, as well as that all-important download link, are coming up after the break.

If you have used a Windows Phone in the past, you will probably have familiarized yourself with Wordament, but for the benefit of those that haven’t been acquainted, it’s a unique take on the grid-based word game, in which you can end up competing with many players at any given time. Think of it as Scramble With Friends, on heat.
The story of how Wordament came to be is actually rather intriguing. It started out as little more than the side-project of a couple of Windows Live guys, and subsequently, it was picked up by Microsoft Game Studios. It has grown to become one of the most popular games on the Windows Phone platform, and while its debut on iOS is noteworthy on its own, the Xbox LIVE achievements give added spice.

The fact you can only earn up to 50 Gamerscore from the 10 achievements available isn’t really the point. It sets an encouraging precedent, and with Game Center not really an ideal hub for gaming fans in its current state, it’s good to see Microsoft offering support for those on Xbox LIVE.
