TY Danjuma Foundation Charge Youths to be Agents of Good Transformation


Nigerian youths have been charged to fully develop their potentials and imbibe core moral and social values to positively support the transformation process of Nigeria.

This call was made at the Career Day and Strategic Planning meeting organised by the TY Danjuma Foundation Saturday, at Goshen, Abuja – Keffi road.

Speaking at the meeting represented by youths from the six geographical zones of Nigeria, the Executive Director of the foundation, Dr. Florence Etta Akin Aina said: “The 2013 career day aspect of the event focuses on hearing from the youths thereby ensuring youth voices are incorporated into the foundation’s strategic plans aimed at enhanced grant making in this regards.

“This planning section of the event focuses on sharing ideas and inputs with stakeholders to help inform the foundation’s 2014 – 2019 strategic plans”.

She said at the end of the meeting, the youths present will have a change of mind to positively impact and contribute to the transformation of our dear country Nigeria and also be creative in job creation.

A speaker at the meeting, Fela Durotoye stress the need for our political leaders to have a mental re-orientation to enable us have the desired change we need in Nigeria.

“There is no way we can talk about transformation without mental transformation. We have to be positive in our thinking; it’s not being a leader that makes one a leader but the qualities that embedded in you that will serve the masses that makes you a good leader.”

Also speaking at the event, Kingsley Bangwell also stressed the need for the youths to have focus in all their undertakings as to make them better future leaders and good ambassadors on Nigeria around the world.

“Lack of proper care and well-being of the youths has created in them a sense of hopelessness and powerless and make them see limited opportunities for employment or livelihood. This is affecting their perceptions of the future and leads them to live for the present, with less thought for preparing for what they see as certain future that is what we shall change today in these youths.”
