A CT teacher has been arrested for Rape
A 39-year-old Cape Town teacher was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly raping of a 12-year-old pupil multiple times.
According to a preliminary investigation, the victim was picked up six times by the teacher over the past several months while on her way home from school.
It was alleged that the suspect took the child to his house, where he raped her.
The police's Frederick van Wyk said that the man was arrested by Kraaifontein officers after the girl's father reported the incident.
"At this stage, it is not yet clear why the victim did not come forward earlier. Kraaifontein detectives will also investigate if there were more victims. The victim is currently receiving counselling from the Victim Support Unit," said Van Wyk.
The teacher was expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
